Google Stadia: Google's attempt to shake up the gaming industry

2019-03-19
what's up guys lon here from Android Authority and I'm here at GDC 2019 where Google just had their very first GDC keynote and here at the keynote they talked about their own game streaming service called stadia and what stadia you'll be able to play on your phone your tablet your laptop your Chromebook and even your TV and they didn't really talk about the specific game titles that you'll be able to play on stadia that information is going to be available later on this year but they did talk about how it works and what it supports so you'll be little play games up to 4k at 60 frames per second at launch with HDR and in the future you're looking at 8k at 120 frames per second basically the way that it works is the games run directly from Google's own data centers directly to your device so there's no hardware involved here but even though there is no actual physical Hardware Google is releasing their own controller that you can use with your phone or tablet and they call it the stadia controller and it pretty much just looks like a pretty standard controller but it does have a couple of special buttons one there is a Google assistant button and this Google assistant button is a little bit different because you actually use Google assistant for helping you with any games that you're playing so if there's a level that you're stuck on you can actually ask Google assistant to help you with that particular level the other button is a capture button that lets you share your gaming directly to YouTube Google also mentioned that stadia will support cross play and multiplayer and there's also a lot of integration with YouTube and one of the coolest features is something called crowd play and what crowd play you'll actually be able to join in on one of your favorite streamers and play with them while they're streaming alive on YouTube so there's actually be a link on there stream that you can click on and it automatically put you into a queue or a line to join their lobby and play with them in a particular game which I think is gonna be pretty cool now even though Google didn't really talk about a lot of the game titles that might be on stadia a couple of games that we do know is gonna be Assassin's Creed Odyssey which if you remember is the game that they beta tested a few months ago with their project stream and another game is doom eternal they also mentioned their own game studio called stadia games and entertainment where they're gonna be developing their own first party games and they also partnered with a bunch of companies right now it's a very small list but some of the most notable ones are come like Unreal and unity but this list is gonna be growing as time goes on but as far as when stadia is actually going to be available they didn't mention a specific date they just said it's launching sometime this year and it's gonna be launching in the US the UK Canada and Europe but that's pretty much it for stadia in Google's keynote here at GCC 2019 hopefully you guys enjoy this video let us know your thoughts on what you think of stadia down in the comment section below and if you guys want to know more about stadia make sure to check out the written article on the website that will also be linked down below and as always give this video a thumbs up if you guys did enjoy and subscribe down below as well and I will talk to you guys in the next video
