in some ways this is a whole new iMac in
other ways it's very very familiar that
may not be very exciting if you're
looking for a dramatic new design from
the outside this looks the same as the
last several generations of imax no the
new updates here are all under the hood
still there's a lot that's been amped up
most notably the move to Intel's KB Lake
CPUs which is the codename we use for
the current seventh generation of those
core AI chips this 27-inch iMac still
has a 5k display but Apple says it's
brighter and can now display up to 1
billion colors not all at once of course
it also gets an option to move up to 64
gigabytes of RAM which will appeal to
high-end content creators the 21.5 inch
imax get a similar bump up to 32 gigs a
total ram and the same brighter display
on the 4k models the built-in AMD Radeon
graphics on the 4k and 5k systems get an
update to 2 Radeon pro 575 75 and 580
cards and USBC continues its march
across the computer universe with the
new iMac adding 2 of those ports to the
back and Thunderbolt free support the
21.5 inch IMAX now start at $12.99 while
the 27-inch models start at $17.99 and
if you're looking for even more of an
upgrade for an extra 30 bucks you can
get the new magic keyboard with a
separate number pad you can always just
get the plain old keyboard too now
before you start saving up for one of
these remember that Apple also just
teased a brand new iMac the very
expensive very high-end Space Gray iMac
pro but will have to come back to that
one a little later in the year
