hello world I'm Seamus burn for CNET at
Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona
and we're looking at the Alcatel
OneTouch range and their Idol 2 series
there are four variations in the idol 2
series the idol to the idol 2's the idol
2 mini and the idol 2 mini s the S
series introduces LTE to the idol range
the full-size Idol 2 is a 5 inch qHD IPS
smartphone with a quad-core 1.3
gigahertz processor 1 gig of ram and 8
gigs or 16 gigs of internal storage
depending on whether you get a single or
dual SIM model microSD is only in the
single sim device you get an 8 megapixel
rear camera and a 2 megapixel front
camera here as well as Bluetooth 4.0 and
NFC the idol 2 s is the model I'm
holding here this has a better 720p IPS
display but a slightly slower 1.2
gigahertz processor and 720p front
camera and it launches with Android 4.3
instead of 4.2 the idol 2 mini is a 4.5
inch qHD IPS display with the 1.2
gigahertz quad core with other specs in
line with the idol - the idol 2 mini s
is much the same spec with the LTE added
and a slightly bigger battery to cope
with the LTE performance needs the mini
s has a nicer design though with a metal
back giving it a much more premium feel
than the other models so the idol two
range is available very soon worldwide
the idol 2 will be priced at $1.99 for
the standard model euros and 249 euros
for the S model that translates to
around 275 US dollars and 350 US dollars
respectively the idol two mini will be
priced at around 169 euros and 209 euro
for the S model that translates to about
235 us and 290 us I think the new
Alcatel OneTouch Idol 2 range does feel
really nice in the hand so given their
price points they should before
quite well this year there's been Seamus
Byrne looking at the Alcatel OneTouch
Idol to range from Mobile World Congress
in Barcelona foreseen it
