Amazon's echo is everywhere it's the current standard for smart home assistance thanks to its easy-to-use and surprisingly good voice control personality named Alexa now the echo is made by Amazon but Alexa herself is slipping the bonds of corporate exclusivity and turning up in a handful of other products one of them is the new Lenovo smart assistant featuring Amazon Alexa it's not a very catchy name but what look will tell you this is clearly modeled very closely on the echo it's a tall cylindrical device it looks a lot like the echo it's got a little bit of the coloration that something like the Google home the top half is one color can have a a different colored woven bottom in grey or green or orange now like the echo it uses Alexa the cloud-based smart assistant in the echo it even uses the Alexa smartphone apps can see they're very very similar it's actually a little bit less expensive 1:29 in the US vs. 179 for the standard echo but if you want an upgraded version there's a Harman Kardon Edition that will be 179 of the US and that will hopefully give you some of the better audio that the Amazon version the original echo is said to lack you can find the Lenovo smart assistant coming in May
