hey I'm here checking out how the Amazon echo works with the Nest Learning Thermostat now these are two very popular smart home devices but they don't work directly with one another out of the box you have to sync them both up with the free online automation service IFFT now to do this you're gonna need to activate both the Amazon echo channel and the nest channel on IFFT and in the Amazon echo channel you can actually specify exactly what you want to say to trigger a recipe so I can make a recipe that says whenever I say trigger the nest thermostat to 68 degrees that's what will happen but you need to make a recipe for each degree or each setting you want to go to so here in the scene that smart home we've got 20 or 30 recipes to control all the possible things we might say that gets a little bit unwieldy but it did work flawlessly in our tests and all in all it's a really good example of how Amazon has successfully leveraged third-party integrations to help make echo a more useful smart home device
