Amazon unveils new Echo gadgets for your home (CNET News)

Amazon announced a handful of new
products at its corporate headquarters
in Seattle Washington let's kick things
off with the new echo it's smaller than
its predecessor but it's packed with new
features in a nutshell the new echo
sounds and performs better than the
first one which is what we expected
it'll also have sold separately shelves
to better match your home decor plus
it's a lot cheaper than the first gen
echo it'll set you back $99 and if you
buy bundle three Amazon will knock $50
off that total if you want the older
model it has been updated a bit it costs
one hundred and forty nine dollars now
and is called the echo plus but that's
not all there's more the company also
announced echo connect a $35 accessory
that can call 911 voice commands echo
buttons which are little 2 for $20
devices that can do things like act as
gameshow buzzers for trivia night and
echoes spot a version of the echo dot
with a two and a half inch screen on it
you can use to make video calls or watch
clips from your favorite shows if you
feel like you're barely keeping up with
all these new products so a weak Alexa
has some new tricks up her sleeve -
there's a new Alexa gadgets API to help
developers create cool new Alexa skills
and you'll be able to set up custom
routines so saying something like Alexa
good morning would trigger a series of
actions that you choose to happen in
your smart home on the TV side there's a
new fire TV it's tiny but powerful
supporting HDR Dolby Atmos and 4k UHD it
also comes with an Alexa voice remote

itself as a solid Roku competitor we'll
