Apple's car project gets a new boss, says report (CNET Update)
2016-07-26
Apple's secret car project might have a
new boss The Wall Street Journal reports
that Bob Mansfield is heading up Apple's
secret car project the rumored internal
code name for the rumored car project is
project Titan now you're wondering who's
Bob Mansfield in years past
bob was Apple's head of hardware
engineering development under him Apple
introduced products like the iPad the
iMac and MacBook Air
you know devices that people generally
like his job title at Apple in 2012 was
senior vice president of technologies in
an old press release Apple explained
what that means the senior VP of
technologies combines all of Apple's
Wireless teams across the company in one
organization Apple semiconductor teams
also report sabab in that organization
the semiconductor teams designed things
like the processors and Apple's iPhones
and iPads if you take a look at Apple's
press info page of executive profiles
you'll see the usual suspects like Tim
Cook Jonathan Ive and Phil Schiller
however Bob is nowhere to be found there
isn't even another person named Bob on
the page although there is a Robert
there Journal says employees at Apple
notice that all senior managers on
project Titan are now reporting to
Mansfield that would indicate that bob
is the big boss of Titan so what do we
know about Apple's Karr project
officially nothing because Apple does
not make a habit of telling people its
plans however Tesla CEO Elon Musk says
he expects Apple to release a car as
soon as the year 2020 must told a German
newspaper that Apple has hired people
that Tesla has already fired he says we
always jokingly call Apple the Tesla
graveyard if you don't make it a Tesla
you go work at Apple and if you thought
must was just kidding he added I'm not
kidding
