so we've already reviewed a handful of Wi-Fi video doorbells and they've been really disappointing but the 199 doorbell cam from August right here might just change all that the one thing you'll notice right off the bat is that it's kind of an awkward design it is smaller than ring or skybell but you're still running into the same issue with the door frame where there's a weird overhang if your doorbell wiring is installed in a traditional location and because this doorbell like other wired doorbells only works with the mechanical chime not a digital chime or an intercom system they're usually installed on the door frame in this traditional spot so you might have to do a little work with that otherwise it was pretty simple and it does have HD streaming which is really good it's responsive and it worked together with the August lock so if you have the August lock you can actually pull up a live stream talk to someone who's at your front door and unlock the door for them pretty cool so while the doorbell cam definitely isn't perfect it's my favorite option so far especially if you have an August locks
