the word day there's some kind of new
scam happening on May 3rd a phishing
scam tried to get people to give up
access to their Google accounts here's
how the scam worked as detailed by
reddit user Jake steam he received an
email about a shared Google Doc when he
clicked the link he was taken to a real
Google account selection screen then he
was asked to allow Google Docs access to
his account upon clicking Google Docs it
showed it was published by a random
Gmail account the holder of that random
accounts would have access to the
affected account Google says it has shut
down the scam in a series of tweets the
company says it is disabled the
offending accounts removed fake pages
and pushed updates through Safe Browsing
in a statement Google said the scam
affected fewer than 0.1% of Gmail users
