Boeing's latest Dreamliner has landed
the 787 - ten completed its first flight
from North Charleston South Carolina
it's the largest Dreamliner yet at 224
feet long and it has a range of 6,000
430 miles that's not quite as far as the
earlier Dreamliner's but the - 10 makes
up for it with extra seats
it can carry 330 passengers in a dual
class configuration which is 40 more
than the 787-9 the first flight lasted
just over five hours with two test
pilots at the helm and no passengers
regular flights were also operating so
the plane had to wait it's turn to take
off a Charleston International Airport
maiden flights usually take it pretty
easy on new planes with pilots testing
components like flaps and landing gears
the - 10 is being built exclusively out
of Boeing's Charleston Factory the first
of the company's commercial planes to be
made outside of Seattle so far 149 of
the planes have been ordered at three
hundred and six million dollars a pop
with deliveries starting in the first
half of 2018 Singapore Airlines will be
the launch customer while British
Airways and United will also fly the -
10 the next step for the plane is to
enter a rigorous flight test program
before it's certified
