hi i'm molly wood and welcome to the
buzz report and now for the gadget of
the week the gadget of the week is the
tivo series three light now many TiVo
fans spend their nights dreaming of the
series 3 the mack daddy of stand-alone
tivos with two HD tuners a 250 gigabyte
drive dual cable card built in ethernet
swoon but then the dreams turn to
nightmares when they remember the eight
hundred dollar price tag ok it's about
650 right now on amazon but still well
folks there's a new dream in town the
series 3 light according to forum post
the lite version will come with no o LED
display no backlit fancy remote control
smaller hard drive and no THX
certification and a $300 price tag three
unknowns see now that's the kind of
dream that has a really happy ending you
know what I'm saying because you buy one
perverts and now for the news sony has
announced that it's getting out of the
amateur video sharing game the company
is relaunching the site formerly known
as grouper and turning it into a
streaming entertainment network called
crackle crackle will be devoted to more
professional quality video and to
uncovering untapped talent for example
it will feature a stand-up comedy
channel and stand out acts will get the
chance to perform at the well-known
improv comedy clubs and for budding
filmmakers crackle is offering prizes
like pitch meetings with movie
executives or even actual theatrical
releases Wow I mean finally a chance to
get famous from your dumb little hobby
of making videos when I'm on the
Internet if only this had been around in
time for the Mentos and Diet Coke guys
Amanda conduct Andy Samberg Perez Hilton
and Jessica rose aka lonely girl 15 ah
guess they'll just have to make do some
other way and now for this week's iPhone
news roundup a security researcher
reports that the iphone's web dialing
feature which makes use of the Safari
browser is terribly insecure Billy
Hoffman says malicious websites could
trick users into calling toll numbers or
even send your phone into an infinite
dialing loop or set you up for phishing
schemes but you know what who cares it's
just so pretty in other news Duke
University IT directors say the wireless
adapters and iPhones are apparently
knocking out the school's wireless
access point by flooding the wireless
network with mac address requests they
say that have lots of students return to
school in august with iphones they're in
deep trouble but didn't you hear what I
said who cares pretty and apple hound
calm reports that it has found some 68
bugs in the iphone but only a few of
them are even remotely serious many of
them are simply annoying interface
choices and not actual bugs and they
believe that overall the OS the
applications in the interface are
extremely solid see pretty at last
week's III game convention nintendo
