CNET How To - Three ways to fix Apple's iMessage bug
2014-05-28
switching from one mobile platform to
another should be as easy as 1-2-3 but
that's not the case with Apple numerous
users have reported that after leaving
their iPhones for an Android or Windows
Phone device they are no longer
receiving text messages I'm dan Graziano
and I'm going to share with you three
easy ways that could help you fix this
problem if you are thinking about
switching or haven't gotten rid of your
iPhone simply power it on go to settings
click on messages and disable iMessage
if the iPhone is still activated I
suggest sending a normal text message to
one of your friends to ensure that
iMessage was switched off properly if
you have already sold or traded in your
iPhone for a new device head over to
Apple's website and reset your Apple ID
password instead of logging back into
your account send a text message with
the word stop two four eight three six
nine from your new Android or Windows
Phone device this method may not be
instant some users who have found
success using it have said that could
take up to 12 hours before texts begin
to trickle in so be patient if you have
tried one or both of these methods with
no success
I recommend calling 1-800 my Apple and
having a technician manually deregister
your phone number for Apple servers for
more how-to like this one be sure to
