CNET How To - Use gestures on the HTC One M8

2014-03-27
I'm dan Graziano and I'm here with the brand new HTC One m8 in addition to a bigger screen and a faster processor HTC is latest smartphone also includes a number of unique gesture based functions known collectively as motion launched pick up the phone and portrait orientation and happen twice on the display will turn the screen on swiping from left to right will turn the screen on and jump directly to blinkfeed while swiping from right to left will go to the main home screen a swipe from the bottom up will open the screen the phone was on when it went to sleep while swipe from the top down will bring up the phone's voice tiling feature the camera app can be quickly launched by picking up the phone and landscape orientation and pressing the volume button another cool thing about the phone is the way it lets you answer it calls can be answered by simply bringing the phone to your face this can be done regardless if the screen is on or off unfortunately at least gestures are semi useless if you have a pin or pattern code enabled they can still be performed but you'll be required to enter the code before proceeding to the specific screen the motion launch gestures are enabled by default to disable them enter the phone settings click on display and gestures scroll down to motion launch gestures and uncheck the box at the top of the screen for more how-to like this one be sure to visit how to see Netcom if you have any questions or comments about the brand new HTC one feel free to reach out to me on twitter i'm dan Graziano CNET thanks for watching
