at the San Francisco Marriott hotel
visitors were recently invited to step
into a booth put on the virtual reality
headset oculus rift plus a pair of
headphones and try out what was billed
as a 4d travel experience so the fourth
dimension really is which touches smell
its wind at sea water being blown at you
visitors were transported from a hotel
lounge to a black sand beach in Hawaii
and then to the very top of a skyscraper
in London to enhance the experience
sprays of mist simulate an ocean breeze
the platform vibrates as you travel to
destinations and rises to heighten the
feeling of being atop the tower there's
a part where they wormhole you 2,000
feet above the city and I almost lost my
balance because the winds blowing it is
it's beautiful it's just amazing not
surprisingly Marriott hopes the virtual
trips inspire wanderlust there is talks
about developing new content there's
talks about taking this to some of our
fabulous new destinations while users
are anxious to see what else the
technology can do if I could actually
walk and be more kind of physically
interactive with it that would be an
even better experience it's still early
days for this tech oculus hasn't even
announced when the headsets will be
available but the potential could be
dizzying in San Francisco I'm Sumi das
