CNET News: The Lumia 900 could make or break Nokia

2012-04-04
the newest Microsoft Windows smart phone the nokia lumia 900 is thin sleek and carries the weight of the world on its 4.3 inch display they need this to be a hit if it's not a hit there's gonna be a lot of question marks questions as to the survival of Nokia phones in America and Microsoft's ability to make a dent in the mobile space if Nokia wants any chance of getting back to the United States the Lumia 900 has to be a blockbuster hit the stakes are equally high for Microsoft I mean they're still trying to prove that the Windows Phone platform is something worth buying for consumers AT&T is putting mega marketing bucks behind the Lumia 900 even dubbing it the brand hero phone but there is one major hurdle to date windows phones have been a non-event with consumers but the Lumia 900 specs and hundred dollar price tag may change that the design is really pop art and so you're going to attract people who want a very cool looking phone but who don't want to sacrifice any of those features i think that nokia has done a really good job packaging this phone up and delivering a lot of features for a very reasonable price but is that enough to entice people to buy it doesn't look like Android it doesn't look like an iPhone got moving tiles it's a completely different concept it's hard for consumers to get their heads wrapped around that and if they can't the consequences could be devastating to both Nokia's and Microsoft's bottom lines in San Francisco I'm Kara Tsuboi cnet.com for CBS News
