2012-11-06
it's time to get out the vote for your
favorite lunch spot I'm Bridget Carey
and this is your cnet update foursquare
is getting more competitive with Yelp
the check-in network just launched a
reading system for local businesses
users of the iOS app can rate a place on
a 10 point score which is a lot like
what Yelp does but Foursquare says the
rating system also calculates in users
tips popularity loyalty and the number
of check-ins although foursquare is
shredding on yelps territory yelp has
been creeping in on Foursquare space to
highlight the connections of your
friends activity such as their check-ins
photos and tips yup also rolled out a
change to its app Apple and Android
users can now just pull up restaurant
menus and see photos and reviews of each
item amazon prime is now offering a
payment option of eight dollars a month
the same price as Netflix and Hulu
previously you had to sign up for amazon
prime subscription in a year lump sum of
eighty dollars and then option is still
available it's about twenty percent
cheaper than going month to month but
having that monthly option is just
another way Amazon's trying to take on
the other streaming video services prime
is more than just video it lets
customers borrow thousands of Kindle
e-books and it includes free two-day
shipping on millions of items in other
news Instagram users are gain web
profiles before there was no real home
page for a user how to use the Instagram
app to look up someone's feed but now
users get their own URL at instagram.com
/ username you still need the app to
upload photos though amazon lockers will
be at staple stores a staples
spokeswoman spilled the news to reuters
amazon has already been putting lockers
in different grocery stores and markets
since the pickup service launched last
year you see instead of having a small
package to deliver to your home you
could pick it up for free at a locker
and there's a report that Microsoft is
working on a surface tablet just for the
Xbox the verge has unnamed sources
saying that this xbox surface would have
a smaller 7-inch display and we've heard
rumors of an Xbox surface back in June
it sounds like this would be Microsoft's
product for really pushing SmartGlass
the new feature that lets you
interact with games and navigate media
on your Windows tablet speaking of games
halo 4 came out tuesday and our viewers
are calling this the best halo game yet
developer Bungie has passed the Halo
franchise on to 343 industries which
will be making a brand new trilogy of
Halo games you would think this is just
another tired attempt to make money off
the popular series but it was said to be
a refreshing improvement and a must buy
for anyone who likes first-person
shooters that your tech news update for
