Cortana and Alexa are now BFFs the voice control digital assistants are teaming up to work together Amazon and Microsoft announced the new partnership to make it easy for those who own it go speakers to have it connect with information in a Windows 10 device and vice versa but it won't be totally smooth you see if you have an echo you first have to say Alexa open Cortana and then you can ask about what's on your Outlook calendar or any reminders you saved to Windows and it's the same deal the other way around if you want to use Windows to control your smart home you have to go through the extra step of saying Cortana open Alexa it's not a trick you can try just yet they will begin talking to each other later this year it is an interesting time for them to join forces every major tech company is pitting their assistance against each other trying to show off who has the best assistant that actually makes life easier as long as you buy their line of products but according to a report in The New York Times it was Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos that reached out to Microsoft's chief scientist II if he was open to the idea of having their assistants work together since each had their own different strengths in that report Bezos said he did not reach out to Apple or Google but he would welcome the chance to work with their assistants I'm Bridget Carey for more details head to cnet.com
