Court rules against Oculus, awards $500 million to ZeniMax
2017-02-01
oculis owes half a billion dollars to
ZeniMax after losing in court a jury
needed just two and a half days to
deliver its verdict in the ZeniMax
versus oculus trial and Palmer is not so
lucky now terrible the case started in
2014 when ZeniMax accused oculus of
misappropriating trade secrets the
actual trial began in mid-january of
2017 and took three weeks to litigate
ZeniMax lawyers insisted the whole thing
was a planned heist with oculus
co-founder Palmer Luckey relying on in
co-founder John Carmack programming
expertise which would then make the
foundation of oculus headset technology
property of ZeniMax since ZeniMax owns
it
oculus on the other hand says this is
sour grapes and the lawsuit is just a
product of jealousy at oculus this
success stating quote they're jealous
they're angry they're embarrassed
unquote seriously you guys this trial
had more drama than all of my Nana's
favorite soap operas combined in the end
the jury agreed with ZeniMax awarding
them five hundred million bucks
of course oculus plans to appeal the
verdict but considering Facebook owns
oculus now and Facebook put up a three
point five billion dollar profit last
quarter I think all parties here are
going to be just fine check out cnet.com
