d-link knows that size matters just
check out the quad stream seven inch
long antennas on the new dual band
d-link di r88 to MU my mo AC 2600 router
and for only $150 you get four Gigabit
LAN ports two USB ports one of which is
USB 3.0 advanced AC smart beam which is
just another name for beamforming and in
880 megahertz dual-core processor but it
only has sixteen megabytes of flash
memory in a hundred twenty eight
megabytes of RAM this could bottleneck
your network in the future when you have
lots of connected devices it's AC 2600
rating means theoretical speeds of 800
megabits per second on the 2.4 gigahertz
band in 1733 megabits per second on its
5 gigahertz band in reality at 7 feet
away on the 5 gigahertz band I saw
throughput of 927 megabits per second
that's pretty amazing for Wireless but
it did drop off to 283 megabits per
second and 50 feet away but that should
still help you eliminate Wi-Fi dead
zones especially if you have a larger
home on 2.4 gigahertz I got around 164
megabits per second everywhere I tested
even at 50 feet away so super long
antennas really do the job
the initial router setup was easy but
saving a new setting took up to 30
seconds each time it felt like forever
for most people though this won't be an
issue because the default settings on
the dir 82 will be just fine however
customizing this router that'll take
some extra time oh and all the d-link
dir 8 a2 has great large home coverage
for an affordable price it's minimal
shortcomings shouldn't shy you away from
trying it out
