if you're looking to buy speakers to use
in a home theater it makes sense to buy
a set of four standards they take up the
same amount of space and are usually
capable of better dynamics and deeper
bass the ELAC Devo F 5 for example costs
the same as one of my favorite speakers
the B&W 685 s - but sound a whole lot
better these are designed by one of the
best speaker engineers in the business
today Andrew Jones he recently made his
name making great value speakers that
also sound good for pioneer the f5 is a
3-way design with a one-inch tweeter and
35.2 five-inch woven fiber woofers it
comes in an attractive brushed vinyl
finish but we did find it attracts
scuffs much easier than a wood wrap the
speakers come with a protective grille
and unusually the mounting pins are on
the speaker and not the grill these are
rare ported speakers so you'll need to
move them out from the wall by at least
three feet to avoid boom enos sound
quality is excellent
while large tales like these can sound
overly bassy these are very even-handed
the bass that is there is very
controlled and quite deep
they are also detailed and more so than
other andrew jones designs but they're
not too bright we tested these speakers
with a set of b5 surrounds the c5 Center
and the s10 EQ sub which also uses your
smart phone for setup at $1500 for the
whole package it offers great
performance for the money while the
smaller B sixes offer better value in
stereo and 564 just the towers they are
competitive with designs up to a
thousand bucks these are really nice
speakers this has been Ty Pendlebury for
