End near for Chrome OS? Android apps coming to Chromebooks (CNET Update)

Google's Chromebooks are about to get
more useful starting in June some
Chromebooks will be able to download
more than 1 million Android apps the
Chrome operating system has always been
a bit limited because it's designed for
people who do most of their work on the
web there are not many chrome apps but
that changes with this new access to the
Google Play Store now people can load up
the Android version of Microsoft Office
along with other work related apps or
perhaps use apps like Google's photos
and play music offline as you could with
a smartphone some Android apps will not
work on Chrome such as those that
require a GPS or other sensors you find
in a phone the downside is that not all
Chromebooks are getting this access
right away it's just for a few
touchscreen models at first we've been
hearing for some time that the Chrome
operating system will merge someday with
Android it seems that someday is getting
closer I'm Bridget Carey be sure to keep
up with what's hot in tech as
