it seems that absolutely everybody is
getting into the business of 360 degree
video including Facebook this is the
Facebook's around a 360 that was
announced at the f8 Developers
Conference in San Francisco now this
flying saucer-like camera has 17 cameras
built-in there are a couple of fisheye
lenses at the top and the bottom you
want to get into the tech specs let's
get geeky they are seven millimeter
lenses F 2.4 and when the footage is
stitched together it can produce an
output up to 8k resolution these cameras
are using what is called a global
shutter rather than a rolling shutter so
that will hopefully remove all of those
artifacts created when the shutter is
opening and closing all of this camera
technology does not come cheap
however Facebook is not actually getting
into the camera business they're going
to make all of this open source
available on github for people to play
around with if you wanted to put this
entire kit together it cost around
$30,000 the video is available to be
viewed on a whole bunch of different
Facebook platforms like Facebook 360
video gear VR and oculus but of course
it's producing these regular 360 video
for any other platform - that's all
going to be available towards the end of
this year and this is the Facebook's
around 360 unveiled at the f8 Developers
Conference
