Facebook and Whatsapp say goodbye to BlackBerry (CNET News)
2016-03-21
Facebook has pulled support for its apps
on blackberry with whatsapp also
announcing last month that it would jump
ship by the end of 2016 in what could be
a decisive blow against the mobile
platform Facebook and whatsapp make up
five of the top ten free apps on
BlackBerry's App Store
BlackBerry's smartphone sales have
accounted for less than 0.1% of the US
market in recent months so losing these
bee guns is going to hurt we are
extremely disappointed in their decision
as we know many users love these apps we
fought back to work with whatsapp and
Facebook to change their minds but at
this time their decision stands there's
no guarantee that third-party apps will
stick around either with Facebook
announcing that they're pulling support
for their api's the very building blocks
that developers rely on for their
third-party apps so users could soon be
stuck either logging into Facebook's
mobile site or searching for another
smartphone for all the phones that do
have the Facebook app head to see Netcom
