First Look: Hands-on with the Sony Cyber-shot HX30V

hey there I'm Josh Goldman senior editor
for cnet and this is a look at the sony
cybershot h x 30 v it's the follow-up to
the HX 9v an excellent and extremely
popular 16 x compact mega zoom from 2011
the 30 x v is just as good but with a
longer 20x zoom lens it's still loaded
with all kinds of shooting options from
full auto to full manual and you get
things like adjustments for contrast
saturation sharpness different color
modes manual focus all kinds of stuff
just no raw capture unfortunately you
also get built in GPS and Wi-Fi which
lets you wirelessly back up to a
computer send to your smartphone or view
on a Wi-Fi enabled TV if the wireless
stuff doesn't appeal to you though look
for the HX 20 v which is the same camera
but without the Wi-Fi photo and video
quality are excellent as is its shooting
performance it's a very quick camera
with very fast autofocus about the
biggest problem I have with it is its
price to other frontrunner in the
category the Canon sx260 HS and
Panasonic zs can be found for up to
about a hundred dollars less they don't
have the exact features of the HX 30v
but they're close enough that the price
difference is substantial nevertheless
if you have the money and this is a
great camera i'm josh golden and that's
the sony cybershot HX 30 d
