First Look: The DuraPlus keeps you connected in extreme conditions

hello everybody I'm Lynne from Cena here
to show you guys the Kyocera dura plus
from Sprint now as you can see this is a
rugged phone built to satisfy military
specs meaning it's dust shock and splash
proof it can be fully immersed in up to
a meter of water for 30 minutes also for
anyone working in low-light conditions
like if you're an emergency responder or
a field operator the device has an
extremely bright LED flashlight built-in
it also has sprint Direct Connect which
is a push-to-talk feature that can work
with any direct connect subscriber which
can be a pretty useful pink eagle two
blue Thunder the target has acquired my
cookies over when it's okay just give
him the cookie no it's not okay it's
just well for today and you know my name
is pink eagle over now I know that as a
rugged phone you have to stick with
certain aesthetic limitations but there
are tough phones out there that don't
look this konkey like the Samsung and
rugby smart although that device may not
be as tough as a dura plus it definitely
looks a lot better in addition to
looking like a rubber brick the dura
plus is heavy it weighs about six point
six seven ounces and is nearly an inch
thick you can barely put it in your jean
pocket and I really can't imagine
someone using this as their day-to-day
phone furthermore there's no camera no
microsd slot for storage purposes and
instead of a 3.5 millimeter headphone
jack it has a headset jack instead if
you're interested the phone will cost
you 60 $9.99 after you send in a $50
mail-in rebate and sign a two-year
contract again i'm lynn from CNET
bringing you guys the Kyocera durham
plus
