i untie federal brief from CNET and this
is a review of the Samsung 6500 plasma a
lot of the attention directed towards
Samsung is that the company's LCD
televisions and I think that's a shame
this year the company is again taking it
to Panasonic with the quality of its
plasma televisions and the new a 6500 is
able to go head-to-head with my favorite
bang for buck TV the Panasonic ST 50
design-wise the Samsung 6500 features a
brushed metallic look but in this way
it's identical to the top of the range
ae 8000 except for a different colored
stand but it's not just appearance the
two are very similar in other ways based
on our tests the to perform very
similarly as far as color and contrast
is concerned and both have excellent
bright room performance the only real
difference is the feature set the 8000
has smart interaction and is a little
better at processing standard definition
sources but in my mind that hardly
justifies a $900 difference in retail
price the reasons to buy the 6500
include excellent color reproduction
deep deep black levels and a usable Apps
suite while you may be tempted by the
flashy AES 8000 LED I'd say save
yourself a mint and get all the features
you need and a much better picture as
well the e 6500 is an excellent TV and
it's able to match the panasonic st 50
in almost every way and at about 1200
bucks online for the 50-inch as one of
the best value televisions on the market
