hi I'm Josh Goldman senior editor with
CNET and this is a look at the olympus
tough tg1 IHS it's new for 2012 this is
the camera makers top-of-the-line rugged
compact that's waterproof to 40 feet
shockproof to 6.6 feet and crushproof in
freeze proof as well but what's really
the standout feature here is the lens
and for a change it's not about zoom but
aperture it's a large f/2 aperture and
it lets in more light than a typical
lens would which means shooting in
low-light doesn't immediately mean more
noise or softer photos olympus also
built in a 45 millimeter converter lens
adapter so you can add on lenses and
filters the rest of the camera is very
nice - including its built-in GPS and
three inch OLED display the only things
I didn't care for were the close spacing
on the controls and the location of the
stereo mic here on top which ends up
under your finger if you're not careful
otherwise it's an excellent option if
you're looking for a rugged compact
point-and-shoot I'm Josh Goldman and
that's the olympus TG one IHS
