FirstBuild finally delivers induction cooktop with sous-vide power

2016-02-18
we finally got our hands on the Paragon induction cooktop and this is a product from the first build of micro factory at GE appliances here in Louisville Kentucky now this is a really interesting product that uses induction technology which is when electromagnetic fields create heat for a really efficient way to cook now the induction cooktop works with a Bluetooth temperature probe to communicate to one another to set very precise cooking temperatures ideally this product is used for sous-vide cooking which is a method of cooking that involves vacuum-sealing food and a water bath because you can use the temperature probe in liquids other than water you can do things like deep fry or even slow cook with this device or you don't even have to use the temperature probe at all and you can use the Paragon it's just a regular old cooktop so there's a little button to the side where you turn on the Bluetooth probe and then use magnets to stick it to the side of whatever pot or pan that you're using now it's synched with the actual cooktop so you can choose if you want it to rapidly come to temperature or gently come to temperature which means it'll heat up but just a little bit slower now so far in my testing of the Paragon I've had some really good salmon and some so-so steak but I still have a lot more testing to do so you can check out a full review here but we wanted to give you a peek into this product because we've known about it for more than a year and it's finally here
