Google Nexus Q streaming-media player - First Look
2012-06-27
here is one of the latest google-branded
devices the Nexus Q it's an android
based media hub that lets you stream
music movies TV shows and more from your
Android device to external speakers or a
television I'm Sharon Vaknin with the
first look at the Google Nexus Q right
away you'll notice it's not your typical
home theater device it's got this magic
8-ball like sphere design complete with
an LED ring that lights up as you play
content weighing in at two pounds this
sucker is heavy but inside you've got
Wi-Fi Bluetooth and NFC there's also an
impressive 25 watt amp and on the back
you'll see a variety of connections
optical out micro hdmi ethernet and a
mini USB port but that's just refer more
updates here at the top you have four
speaker ports that can be used to hook
up your speaker system using banana
plugs so the specs are cool but here's
how it works once you've hooked it up to
an external device like a TV you'll
download the Nexus Q app on your Android
tablet or phone running 2.3 and above
and sync it with the Q then you can
start streaming music with a funky
visualization on the TV screen play
youtube videos stream video content from
google play and even let friends play
music from their android phones and
control the playback the Nexus Q is an
attractive device especially for android
owners but at 299 it's definitely going
to scare a few people away it's
available for pre-order and will
officially be in stock in mid-july for
more details and a deeper dive check out
