Google's self-driving cars cannot take
us to work yet but Google is working on
a more practical solution for today a
better way to carpool Google's Waze app
is starting to test a carpooling service
in the San Francisco Bay Area millions
of people use the navigation app for
traffic alerts and warnings about
accidents or speed traps along a route
but now some drivers in the pilot
program will have the option to pick up
one writer along their way to work and
the app will calculate the best
passenger based on start and end points
and commute time the one writer would
need to download a separate app it's
called Waze writer if you jump into a
carpool you'll be paying the driver a
small fee per mile maybe something like
fifty cents a mile to compensate for gas
and driving expenses Google purchased
ways back in 2013 for 1 billion dollars
and with this update Google has now
jumped into the ride-sharing business
and is merging into obras Lane that's it
