Google's Hangouts on Air heading to YouTube (CNET Update)
2016-08-16
Google Hangouts on air is being kicked
off of Google Plus Google announced it
is removing hangouts on air from its
social network Google Plus hangouts on
air is a way for people to livestream
video along with guests on Google Plus
as well as YouTube as of September 12th
hangouts on air functionality will be
swallowed up by YouTube live setting up
a live broadcast on Google Plus is
relatively simple head on over to
plus.google.com slash hangouts slash on
air then hit the create a hangout on air
button write in some info and then you
hit start
Google's documented a six step process
to create a YouTube live broadcast
however the new version is missing a few
features the YouTube live version of
hangouts on air does not support QA a
feature that allowed a broadcaster to
receive questions to answer
instead Google suggests using social
networks to field questions
additionally the YouTube live version
does not support the showcase feature
showcase lettle hosts share links and
other information without interrupting a
broadcast it makes sense for Google to
move it to video projects to YouTube
after all YouTube's whole thing is video
Google seems to be shying away from
Google+ a few days ago Google confirmed
a Google+ profile is no longer necessary
to leave reviews on the Google Play
Store for Android these aren't good
signs for Google's social network but
the company probably isn't giving up on
it just yet that's it for this tech news
