Google's PhotoScan saves your printed photos without glare (CNET Update)
2016-11-15
google has a new app that quickly scans
a printed photo without any annoying
glare getting in the way using just your
smartphone camera it's a new app called
photo scan available on iOS and Android
devices simply hover the camera over the
photo and then move it to capture the
four dots in the corners by moving it
the camera can see around the glare just
like you do when you move your head and
it'll find similar pixels and stitch all
those different angles together for
moving the parts with glare and also it
crops out the table or picture frame and
it straightens and rotates it to the
correct orientation it's not gonna be as
high-quality as taking it to a
professional scanning service but it
sure is faster than doing them one by
one on a typical flatbed scanner that
means when you visit the family for the
holidays and go through the old photo
albums or pictures hanging on the wall
you can now save them digitally without
ever needing to take them out of the
frame or photo book but what if you want
to do a little editing scan photos can
be saved to the Google Photos app that
saves everything to the cloud the Google
Photos app offers new tools for editing
and adding filters open a photo tap the
pencil icon to edit you can now adjust
the saturation in new ways like just
brightening up the deep blues in the sky
or changing just the warmth of your skin
tone there are also twelve new filters
to make photos pop more or look a little
antique google photos is also adding new
ways to automatically create slideshows
of photos and videos set to music and
new ways to share those with anyone in
your contacts list I'm Bridget Carey
