I'm van Ackerman here taking a look at
one of the more interesting PC
accessories at CES that is the HP zvr of
course the VR stands for virtual reality
this is a 24-inch monitor that sits on a
big stand you can tilt it back at
different angles it's got this big kind
of arch over the top and then arch
contains four cameras that track your
head position you put on a pair of
passive 3d glasses and then all of a
sudden you're in this virtual reality
world HP calls it blended reality and
you use an included stylus to manipulate
objects in 3d in real time having used a
lot of virtual reality devices I did
like that the the 10 control really felt
very real time the thing you don't
always get with these systems this is
intended for educational use they want
you to be able to take the pen for
example and dissect a frog or examine a
molecule or a set of gears I like that
you could pick things up and flip them
around completely backwards to get a 360
degree view of an object again something
you don't see with a lot of virtual
reality headsets out there the Z VR will
be out in the second quarter of 2015 but
we do not have a price yet I bet it will
not be inexpensive however I'm Dan Akron
and that is the HP z vr
