Hands-on with the Synaptics ForcePad for Windows 8 - First Look
2012-08-20
i'm dan ackerman and we are taking a
first look at the brand new synaptic
sports pad this is the next generation
of touch pad technology for your laptop
for Windows 8 laptop so you're probably
going to see in 2013 the big difference
is unlike click pads which is the style
you see on Apple laptops a lot of other
laptops where the entire pandas hinge to
the top and clicks down this pant is
just a flat surface there are no buttons
there are no click zones you just tap on
it with one finger for a left click two
fingers for a right click but more
important than that it's a
pressure-sensitive pad it can detect 64
levels of pressure from all five of your
fingers so that gives you a lot of
different options in terms of using
finger pressure and multiple fingers in
order to do stuff we checked out a
couple of demos from synaptics including
a finger pressure demo and a plane
flying demo where you just leaned your
fingers back and forth in order to steer
the play around the screen you're going
to start seeing force pads hopefully in
Windows 8 laptops but not before 2013
