Harvard's 'bionic leaf' produces fuel using sunlight and water (Crave Extra)

researchers at Harvard University have
created a man-made leaf that converts
water and sunlight into fuel Harvard
researcher Daniel no Sarah and his team
have been working on creating new
processes and new materials to change
the energy landscape according to a
short video posted on Harvard's YouTube
channel you simply drop this Bionic leaf
into water and hit it with sunlight and
out one side comes hydrogen and out the
other side comes oxygen it says Daniel
no Sarah and the video you can then use
the hydrogen right out of the leaf for
fuel or convert the hydrogen using an
engineered bacteria which devours the
hydrogen molecules and leaves behind
isopropyl alcohol this means you can
produce your own fuel in your own home
if you have a bionic leaf sunlight and
water according to a science magazine
article abstract about the Bionic leaf
coupling this hybrid device to existing
photovoltaic systems aka solar powered
systems would yield a co2 reduction
energy efficiency of negative ten
percent exceeding that of natural
photosynthetic systems so it could be
better than a real leaf read more about
