Walmart doesn't let you use Apple pay or
Android pay so instead of adding a way
for customers to use these popular
mobile payments Walmart is rolling out
its own system and it's called you
guessed it
Walmart pay unlike the Apple and Android
options Walmart pay does not use NFC
from your phone and there's no
fingerprint scanning security protection
built into the process instead when
you're checking out you have to pull out
your phone to take a picture of a QR
code on a screen at the checkout line
and after you're done scanning your
items the order is charged to the card
you have on file with the app QR codes
what is this 2009 Walmart has been
testing this out for about six months
but it's officially launching to almost
600 stores now across Texas and Arkansas
more states are coming soon with a
nationwide launch plan by Midway this
year it seems Walmart hopes this is
going to keep you coming to Walmart by
making it a little faster to get through
the checkout line but having customers
learn to use another payment app with a
QR code doesn't seem that much faster or
easier than just swiping your credit
card that's it for this tech news update
