Here's how Google will tempt smartwatch fans with Android Wear 2.0

so with Android wear 2.0 one of the
things we've done is we've made watch
faces even more useful so any watch face
can show data from any app so for
example this watch face here I've
configured this to show my step count
some stock info and my agenda and if I
want to get more info about my agenda I
just tap right here and it opens up the
app we've added new input methods to
make messaging even more convenient and
quick and so that includes smart reply
includes a handwriting and keyboard I'm
going to demo handwriting input right
now and so if I have a message here from
David I can tap and reply and I can
actually sketch on the screen and you
can see it recognises the letters that
I'm sketching and there you go it works
it's very quick it's very discreet and
convenient now the cool thing about the
keyboard input is as powered by Google's
machine learning so it can actually be
quite smart at predicting what you might
want to type next so I'll show that here
I'm going to go ahead and reply to this
message and I say hey do you want to get
dinner so hey do you want to get dinner
and look at that as easy as that
we've also revamped a lot of the system
UX for example we can see as I'm
scrolling through my notification stream
that these cards have dark backgrounds
now which can be better for when you're
in avid dark environment but also help
save battery life on certain screens
we've also revamped the app launcher and
we've redesigned it to be natively round
since a lot of our watches are around
another thing that's an Android 2.0 is
we've added automatic activity
recognition via the google fit platform
so what that means is if I get up and I
start running pretty soon if after I
start running the watch will
automatically detect that it can launch
into my preferred fitness app and start
tracking my run stats my distance and in
pace without me having to manually go
launch the app we're also enabling
standalone apps to run directly on the
watch without relying on the phone so
that means for example and this LTE
enabled watch that I have here if I'm
going on a run I can actually launch
Spotify and stream music directly from
the cloud everything still works so for
example here I'm going to launch Spotify
and I'm going to start playing a track
and that's actually screaming it
directly from the internet
you
