How To: Find out if someone is stealing your Wi-Fi
2012-04-03
hey guys I'm Sharon Vaknin christina and
hacking a Wi-Fi network is a lot easier
than it sounds
all hacker needs is a few minutes of
their time and you would never know
someone was taking a free ride on your
Wi-Fi if your connection is consistently
slow you might guess that someone is
stealing your Internet but today I'll
show you how to find out for sure with
wireless network watcher you can get
notified each time someone logs on to
your Wi-Fi network to get started
download and install wireless network
watcher from download com once it's
installed launch it click options and
then select beep on new device and
background scan this way you'll be
notified each time someone logs onto
your network with a loud beep back in
the main screen of the application press
the play button or hit f5 and the
program will begin scanning for devices
on the network now if someone like my
colleague Lynn lahir connects to my
Wi-Fi network wireless network watcher
will alert me that she's connected with
a loud ding it should work automatically
but if nothing happens head to options
then Advanced Options check the box here
at the top and select your network card
from the drop-down list below if
wireless network watcher helps you
realize someone is stealing your
internet connection the first step would
be to change your password not only are
they eating up your bandwidth but they
could also potentially access your
personal data if you have any questions
send me a tweet on Twitter and follow my
facebook page for more tips like this
