here in Pacifica erosion is eating away
at California's coastline to study the
rising sea levels from El Nino
scientists of turning to crowdsource
drone and smartphone imagery from
photographers like Eric Chang Eric the
Nature Conservancy's El Nino coastal
monitoring program is a citizen science
project that leverages volunteers like
like me and other drone enthusiasts to
go map the coastline so that we can
generate interesting information in
anticipation of rising sea levels so
let's take off the drain see what we can
stick on the Pacifica for five all right
great so the drone is just over there
we're gonna launch
and I'll I'll do a quick lap before we
fly out there pretty cool to see a droid
in 360 yeah there we go there we go so
we're at high tide at the moment the
best time to be doing any sort of
mapping specifically for this program
it's the best time because there the
program is interested in when water
encroaches upon urban environments or on
people so anyone who owns the drone
wants to get involved with the project
where can I find out more now go to
nature org slash El Nino and it will
tell you how to use your drone or use
your phone to capture imagery that the
nature conservancy to use great let's
take a quick journey during selfie there
we go ready yeah I bring in a really
close one - great love it thanks Eric
you're welcome
