YouTube for desktop is getting a redesign it's cleaner easier to navigate and gives channels a new look but most importantly it comes with a darker theme the redesign isn't finished yet but you can opt in and begin using the dark mode now here's how open a new window or tab in your browser of choice and go to youtube.com forward slash new click try it now to opt into the new design this redesign removes the redundant three tabs on the YouTube home page tightens up the design in general and uses larger typeface across the board to activate the new dark theme click your profile icon in the top right corner in the drop down menu that appears click dark theme then click the toggle beside to activate dark theme all the light parts of YouTube will become varying shades of dark grey your settings will be remembered the next time you visit YouTube from the same browser but the dark theme will need to be enabled for each browser or computer you use if by chance you aren't fond of the new design on YouTube you can revert to the original by clicking on your profile icon in the top right corner once more and clicking restore classic YouTube at the bottom give a reason for why you want to revert and click Submit for how-tos and other tips and tricks be sure to check out cnet.com forward slash how-to
