hey guys it's Jason Cipriani here with
cnet how to today we're going to take a
look at how to open links in the
background in Mobile Safari on iOS 5
well use what iOS users have grown
accustomed to over the years is when
they hold tap and hold on a link they
have an option to open it in in a new
page so when you tap on open a new page
it will open up a new tab for you load
the page you just tap the link for well
in iOS 5 you can open it in the
background all you have to do is go into
settings scroll down to Safari tap on
open links change it to in background so
now if we go back to Safari we tap and
hold on the link you'll see open and
background once I tap on that you'll see
a nifty little animation the number of
tabs I have open are now at two and once
I tap on that and go this page will be
loading in the background what this does
is it prevents you from having to leave
the page you're currently on for example
if you're reading an article and it
links to something else that you don't
want to go to right at that moment you
could open a link in the background it
comes in real handy if you read a lot of
blog posts or like to have multiple tabs
in multiple sessions going at the same
time so that's how to open a link in the
background on iOS 5 this work on any iOS
device that's compatible with iOS 5
