How to stop Android from adding new apps to the Home screen
2012-07-12
it's extremely frustrating after
installing a bunch of apps whether it's
through the Google Play Store on your
Android device or the Google Play
website to come back to your device and
find your home screen is now covered in
icons
I'm Jason Cipriani a CNET how-to
contributor and today I'm going to show
you how to stop Android from adding new
apps to your home screen automatically
this purse became a problem for me
personally with Android 4.0 Ice Cream
Sandwich but from my understanding it
was present in honeycomb and some
devices and builds of Android prior to
that
luckily either way it's an easy fix what
we'll need to do to fix it is launch the
Play Store app on your Android device
tap on the menu and then go to settings
there's an option here called auto add
widgets by default it is checked we're
just going to uncheck that box once we
back out we go back to our home screen
and we can install apps from the website
or on the device as well and those icons
are not automatically going to be added
to the home screen for us anymore
once again I'm Jason Cipriani with CNET
how to make sure to come and check out
how to see Netcom for more tech tips
just like this one
