if you thought snapchat was weird wait
until you get a load of hype from the
makers of the now-defunct vine app comes
a brand new app for a live broadcast
video and the twist is how you add
multimedia and interact with viewers you
can add photos and text and gifts and
you can even move them around in real
time and that's what adds personal charm
to each hype but before you go live
you'll want to give your presentation
some pizzazz
the default starts with a gray
background to change it hold your finger
down on the background and you'll see a
menu with several animations your
background can also be a photo an
animated gif or a video from your camera
roll you begin with a video and a circle
cut out but you can change the shape of
the window or when it's a square you can
crop it and then zoom in and out or spin
it around if you don't want to be in the
broadcast tapping the ghost icon will
mute your mic and hide the video window
click the plus sign to add photos and
video or select multiple images to
create a slideshow you can also add
music to play in the background or text
tapping the search icon pulls up
animated gifts and vines because you can
never be too weird on the Internet all
of these elements are stacked like a
deck of cards you can bring an item to
the front by selecting it and tapping
the layer icon if you want something to
fill the screen tap the double arrow
icon in the right corner and tap it
again to shrink it back down here's the
best part when you go alive you can keep
adding moving or deleting elements in
real time while interacting when your
audience comments and you can highlight
someone's comments tap on a message in
the chat window and it appears as a chat
bubble in your video yes you have to
interact that's the whole point and if
people like you they'll subscribe to you
and be alerted the next time you go live
some people have even crafted their own
theme talk shows out of this I mean just
look at some of these people with their
weird shows everyone wants to be a star
and what drives them the sparkles
viewers tap a part of the screen to make
it sparkle to show that they like
something it makes it also magical it's
hard to tell right now if hype will
become the next video creation sensation
but one thing's for sure hype has the
right blend of inner
weirdness to work for CNET I'm Bridget
