hey guys we're here in Palo Alto we're
Corning just announced its latest
version of Gorilla Glass Gorilla Glass 5
now the big thing about this version of
the glass is that it's supposed to
withstand drops of about 1.6 meters
which is about five feet two inches
probably about this height and today we
got to see some of the testing and
torture some of the glass at Corning the
glasses go through a bunch of different
tests this is one of them this is a
steel ball that's about to hit a regular
glass head on top of the ball in release
go very well for the regular piece of
glass shattered no doubt about that
and now we'll try it out with Gorilla
Glass
this is Gorilla Glass 3 and now release
the ball and unscathed fight as much
pressure as I can to break it not even a
dent
and the big test for Gorilla Glass 5 the
drop test from about shoulder level for
most people that's nearly twice as
shatterproof as the previous version of
Gorilla Glass according to Corning
Corning didn't tell us exactly what
devices we can expect to see Gorilla
Glass 5 in but definitely in some of the
new ones coming out this fall
