2018-01-09
setting up a home Wi-Fi system can take
about 15 minutes
but Huawei says that its new router will
blink at your whole home in Wi-Fi and as
few as two minutes we checked out the
prototype at CES 2018 in Las Vegas and
while we didn't get a chance to test the
claim in person we can tell you that the
system consists of a base unit about the
size of an Amazon echo plus these
smaller satellite units that you plug
into just a regular wall outlet these
smaller units are basically repeaters
that help link-up Wi-Fi in areas that
are too far from the base unit to reach
Wi-Fi will default to the faster five
gigahertz Network speed not the slower
2.4 gigahertz speed that you sometimes
see the system will also support up to
16 hotspots Huawei says that a single
base unit in satellite will handle Wi-Fi
for about three to four rooms one base
and two satellites will cover four to
five rooms and a three-pack adjust that
base router and no satellites will sort
out a 5 to 7 room house the routers will
make their debut in homes globally this
coming April with the u.s. as one of the
first launch markets the router is
called Huawei Wi-Fi q2 will make their
debut in April with the US as one of the
first launch markets
