Hyperloop one successfully completed
another round of testing in the Nevada
desert and hit a new milestone in its
quest to make the concept a reality its
Hyperloop pod xp1 reach speeds of up to
192 miles per hour during the test and
covered over 1,400 feet of track that's
a massive improvement over the scale
test back in May 2017 which only covered
about 315 feet of track and topped out
at speeds just under 70 miles per hour
this phase two tests depressurized the
tube to reduce friction on the pod while
it moved the equivalent would be about
two hundred thousand feet above sea
level
Hyperloop one says all systems performed
well during the test as for what's next
TechCrunch spoke with Hyperloop one CEO
Rob Lloyd who said quote we are actually
now starting to install the concept of
an airlock so that will have an entry
and exit way to load the pod which will
then inform station design and other
parts of the overall system if you're
not familiar with Hyperloop the idea is
magnetic levitation and pressurized
tubes used to propel a pod at high
speeds making long-distance journeys
much much shorter this Hyperloop one
concept video from 2016 shows off its
vision of transporting people 100 miles
in under 15 minutes we'll be keeping our
eye on Hyperloop ones progress on
