JVC Everio GZ-R10 goes where other camcorders can't
2014-08-05
hey so remember camcorders these things
that look a bit like a soda can with a
strap well even though most everyone has
switched to other devices to make their
video needs jvc is betting a long zoom
lens and some added protection might get
you interested again
I'm Josh Goldman with CNET and this is a
look at the everio gzr 10 a full HD
camcorder with a 40 X zoom lens that's
waterproof down to about 16 feet can
withstand a 5 foot drop and it's dust
proof and freezeproof it's easy to
operate but that's mostly due to lack of
features you can manually control focus
white balance and exposure and you can
tap to focus on whatever you want but
it's primarily designed for automatic
use unfortunately those are the
highlights of the ar-10 the image
stabilization for the lens is digital
only the touchscreen isn't as responsive
as you probably used to the battery is
built-in so no swapping out for a fresh
one and the hatch that covers your ports
feels a bit iffy and in the end the
video quality is just ok you can read
the full review on cnet.com but
considering the near $400 price the
whole package is disappointing unless a
long zoom lens and some protection from
the elements are your priorities
I'm Josh Goldman and that's a look at
the jvc everio gzr 10
