hi everybody this is the LG 65 eg 9600
it's one of a pair of new 2015 OLED TVs
on sale so far this year from LG and
it's my new favorite television at least
till the flat one comes out not that i
can afford one anytime soon that's
because right now the 65-inch 4k oled
costs about nine thousand dollars in the
u.s. while its 55-inch counterpart costs
about half that that's the bad news the
good news is that it produces an
absolutely phenomenal picture one that
looks better than any LCD or plasma TV
I've ever tested the secret is that
unlike those TV technologies OLED can
produce a perfectly dark shade of black
it can also get really bright and that
combination produces eye-popping
contrast the most important ingredient
in picture quality it also helps the
colors which are very accurate anyway
look even richer and more saturated
another advantage of OLED is that unlike
LCD it maintains excellent fidelity from
any angle I did notice some minor
uniformity and video processing issues
and the purist in me wishes that the
screen was flat is that a curved but
none of that spoils the amazing picture
by now you probably notice this TV is
curved a design choice i consider
largely a gimmick the curve does look
impressive in person and oled is also
really thin the top part of this TV
measures just a quarter-inch thick the
bottom is thicker to house the inputs
and electronics but it's still really
stylish new for this year the back side
is white for some reason plenty of
features are on board including a motion
remote that works a lot like Nintendo's
Wii mote controller it also has the
latest version of LG's webOS smart TV
system which is much faster than last
year and relatively easy to use it
allows you to stream netflix amazon and
youtube videos in 4k and of course what
you're really paying for here is the
oled picture quality which is once again
the best we've ever tested for this
price it better be this has been a quick
look at the LG EG 9600 series i'm david
katz mayra cnet
you
