Make your own Magic Erasers for less (CNET How To)
2017-10-19
if nothing else Magic Erasers are known
for their effectiveness but they don't
last long and can be rather expensive an
alternative is to make your own at home
for around 10 cents each here's how the
truth is Magic Erasers are just tiny
rectangular pieces of melamine foam with
some cleaning agents inside but it's not
just the cleaning agents that make them
so effective
it's the melamine itself it's a more
dense sponge than your average cleaning
sponge and its tiny pores make it a
light abrasive not unlike that of an
extra fine sheet of sandpaper you can
find bulk packs of melamine sponges
online this 100 pack cost just eight
dollars they're a tad smaller than the
real deal but I bought 100 plain sponges
for the price of an 8 pack next you need
two common cleaning solutions for X and
baking soda and you only need a tiny bit
of each first heat up some water for a
single sponge about 1/2 cup will be
plenty add 1 teaspoon of borax and 1
tablespoon of baking soda to a bowl add
the water to the mixture and stir place
a sponge in the bowl and allow it to
soak up the solution squeeze out some of
the excess and begin scrubbing for other
