hi I'm Sarah metric with Sina and this is a first look at Microsoft Windows Phone 8.1 Cortana Cortana is like Siri or Google now it's a voice assistant you can ask it to search the web for you set reminders set alarms call your mother any kind of voice-activated command that you can think of Cortana can do you get to it from the home screen by tapping the search bar notice you can still type in something if you want to search Bing on the web but if you tap the microphone you can ask it anything you want like hey what's the weather in San Francisco it'll think for a couple of seconds depending on your connectivity and then it'll read back the answer to you with a screen full of detail whether that's weather reports whether that's sports stats things like that it's tailored to you as the user of the phone so as you enter your contacts your personal information you can tell it to call mom and it knows who you're asking about but on a general perspective you can ask it almost any question you would ask Siri or Google now and it has some of the richness that Google now has as far as displaying information for you I'm Sarah metropolis Sina and that's a first look at Microsoft Cortana
